Chess

The great game of plans and tactics, on a calm, uncluttered board.

  • Rated and casual online matches, plus private friend rooms
  • Lessons and a saved history of your games

A little chance, a lot of strategy

Backgammon

Race your checkers home, where every roll of the dice asks a new question.

  • Computer opponents, online matches and private friend rooms
  • Lessons and a saved history of your games

Simple moves, beautiful possibilities

Checkers

  • Rated and casual online matches, plus private friend rooms

Never wait for a game

Four computer opponents, always at the table

Each one is a step up in difficulty, from a first game to a serious fight. Practice never touches your rating, so try every idea you like.

  • Milo

    Easy · 600 target

A friendly opponent for learning moves and trying new ideas.

  • Ada

    Club · 1200 target

A thoughtful club opponent who keeps you on your toes.

  • Vince

    Advanced · 1800 target

A confident tactician who rewards careful plans and sharp moves.

  • Sup

    Expert · 2000 target

A patient strategist who looks ahead and makes every move count.

Targets are difficulty labels, not calibrated or measured ratings. Computer practice is open to guests in Checkers; in Chess and Backgammon it comes with a free account.

Built like a club, not a lobby

Why players bring their game here

  • A rating that means something

Rated games use Elo, starting at 1200, with a leaderboard for each game. Casual games and computer practice never change it.

  • Fair by design

In online games every move is checked on the server and backgammon dice are rolled there too, so no one can bend a rule from their browser.

  • Private tables for friends

Create a room in any game and share its code. Your friend joins with a free account in the same game.

  • Free, with no wagering

Guest games, practice, lessons and online matches are free. Coins only unlock cosmetic extras and have no cash value.

  • Learn as you play

Every game has short lessons to get you started, and Checkers adds a daily challenge and tactics puzzles.

  • On every screen you own

Play in the browser on a phone, tablet or computer, and add any game to your home screen to open it like an app.

Earn it, wear it

Make every table yours

Each game keeps its own coins and collection. Claim your daily coins and win rated games to unlock up to 16 board themes and 16 collectible avatars, plus 12 dice styles in Backgammon. Prefer your own face? Upload a photo and it follows you to the header, the board and the leaderboard.

Questions, answered

Is Boardroom free to play?

Yes. You can start a guest game in any of the three without signing up, and a free account adds online matches, private friend rooms and your match history. Coins and Premium are optional and only unlock cosmetic extras such as boards, dice and avatars. In Chess and Backgammon, guest games are two players on one device; the computer opponents come with a free account.

Why does each game have its own account?

Each game is its own app with its own players, ratings and history, so your Chess account and your Checkers account are separate. Sign up in the game you want to play. You can use the same email address for each.

Can I play with a friend?

Yes. Create a private room in any of the three games and share the room code. Your friend joins with a free account in the same game.

Is there any gambling or prize money?

No. Boardroom has no wagers, stakes or cash prizes. Coins have no cash value and can’t be withdrawn, transferred or exchanged for money.

Can I install Boardroom on my phone?

Yes. Open a game in your phone’s browser and choose Add to Home Screen, or Install if your browser offers it. Each game is added on its own.
